Why the estimate can differ from the real print time, and how to make it more accurate
Lychee Slicer estimates print time from your resin settings. The real time can still differ, because each printer's firmware handles motor acceleration and deceleration and other hardware details that the slicer can't detect.
Get a more accurate estimate with Print Time Override
In your resin settings, Print Time Override lets you enter how long your printer really takes to print one layer. You measure it once during a real print:
- Start a print with your usual settings and wait for about 50 layers, so you're past the burn-in and transition layers.
- Start a timer when the build plate starts moving up.
- Count 10 complete cycles (move up, move down, rest, exposure).
- Stop the timer as the 11th cycle starts, then divide the time by 10. For example, 90 seconds ÷ 10 = 9 seconds per layer.
- Enter this value in Print Time Override → Time per layer.
For Time per Burn-in layer, use your burn-in exposure time plus 10 seconds. For example, 30 + 10 = 40 seconds.
After your print, compare the real time with the estimate and adjust the time per layer by a fraction of a second if needed.
Important
Print Time Override isn't linked to your other resin settings. If you change the exposure time or a speed, update the time per layer too. For example, add 0.5 seconds if you increase the exposure by 0.5 seconds.
