What to do if Lychee Slicer doesn't start, stays grey, or the build plate is missing, often after an update

If Lychee Slicer doesn't launch, stays on a blank or grey screen, or opens without a visible build plate or models, work through these steps in order.

1. Close any copy still running in the background

On Windows, open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc), find any Lychee Slicer process, click End task, then open Lychee Slicer again. On Mac, right-click the icon in the Dock and choose Quit, or use Force Quit.

2. Check you're opening the right version

Lychee Slicer 8 installs as a separate application, so your previous version may still be on your computer. Make sure you open the version you want from your Start menu or Applications folder, not an old shortcut.

3. Reinitialize Lychee Slicer

This fixes most display and startup problems. See Reinitializing Lychee Slicer.

4. Make sure your graphics card is being used

  • Check the graphics and performance settings, especially if your computer has both integrated and dedicated graphics. Try setting V-Sync mode to Software.
  • Update your graphics card drivers from the NVIDIA, AMD or Intel website.

5. Reinstall the latest version

Download the latest version from lychee.co/download-lychee-slicer and install it. If you're on a Mac, see Lychee Slicer on Mac to pick the right download.

6. Go back to a previous version while we investigate

Previous versions are available on the download page under Download previous versions. You can keep using one of them for your prints while we look into the issue. See Install, Update or Roll Back Lychee Slicer.
