Available in Lychee Slicer 7.6 and above, Voxel Hollowing 3D is an improved hollowing method that automatically detects and handles resin traps and suction cups, making post-processing significantly easier than traditional 3D hollowing.
How to access it
Go to Prepare → Hollow and click Voxels Hollowing 3D.
Settings
- Thickness — sets the wall thickness of the hollow, same as traditional 3D hollowing
- Detect pockets— automatically detects and fills resin traps and interior suction cups (shown in yellow). You can enable each independently:
- Resin traps
- Interior suction cups
Click Add/Update to apply.
Voxel colors
- Yellow — automatically filled by the pocket detection algorithm (resin trap or suction cup)
- Red — manually marked as solid (will not be hollowed)
- Blue — marked to be hollowed out
Note: if pocket detection is enabled, converting a yellow voxel to blue may be overridden — the algorithm will refill it if it detects a void. To have full manual control, run Voxel Hollowing without the automatic detection options enabled.
Add infill
For larger models or complex shapes, use Add Infill to add internal vertical support pillars inside the hollow. This reduces resin savings slightly but adds structural integrity. After adding infill, check your hollowing holes and reposition them if needed, as the infill does not automatically avoid them.
Tip
After applying Voxel Hollowing, you can delete any remaining interior supports by selecting Select interior supports in hollowing and deleting them before adding infill.
